Independent advice from experienced roofing professionals
Roofing repairs set to take University of York to new heights

Following leaks and disruption, Estates Services at the university brought our team in to assess the degree of repairs needed, and offer independent, specialist advice. More than £500 million has been spent by the university since 2000 to upgrade and expand its campus facilities.
Philip Dalgleish, Building Maintenance Surveyor at the University of York, believes that improving the roofing is a further element in the continued investment in the campus, all aimed at creating a 21st century campus to match the universities aspirations.

“The refurbishments will see fewer disruptions for staff and students, and ensure that the roofs in question do not deteriorate further and cause greater cost to the university.

“The team at Under1 has been drafted in at an early stage as they offer truly independent advice and offer superb guidance on the options available, which is essential in carrying out cost-efficient and thorough repairs of this kind,” said Philip.
We also drew up a standard specification for all flat roofs across the campus, giving commissioned contractors clear guidelines and direction in completing each repair project. Philip added: “Under1 offer an independence which is few and far between in the industry. They are always available to run queries by, and their flexibility and professionalism is very reassuring.”
York University is ranked as a top 90 university worldwide, and was named the Times Higher Education University of the Year in 2010. Under1 Roofing Consultants provide expertise in all aspects of contemporary roofing, design, manufacture, installation, refurbishment and maintenance.
