University of Nottingham
One of the university’s main and newer buildings, only seven year old single-ply membrane roof.
The client was experiencing multiple areas of significant water ingress in a relatively new building. It was causing damage and they wanted the problem diagnosing and a solution finding fast.
Under1 used non-destructive testing in the form of electronic leak detection and Moisture Gauge devices which highlighted numerous punctures in the roof lining.
Under1 designed a complete new waterproofing system to cover the existing roof entirely to solve the current leaks and prevent future ones occurring.
They project-managed the entire process including initial tendering and tender analysis through to managing work on site and retesting upon completion
Under1 Consultants had to work to a very specific timescale with the work needing to be carried out during the summer holidays so that no students or staff would be affected. Under1 went over the existing roof with a recovery board and two layers of High Performance felt.
