Existing roof covering was a single ply membrane

Under 1 were instructed to carry out a visual and non-destructive testing survey using our moisture gauge. The survey was in advance of a major refurbishment of the office building that was vacant. The initial appearance of the single ply membrane suggested that it was in fair condition however the Moisture Gauge proved invaluable as the high readings returned indicated that there were very high levels of entrapped moisture within the waterproofing build-up. Our further investigations  on site revealed leaks into the building and defects in the waterproofing membrane that were responsible for the ingress.

Under1 recommended that the roof be fully stripped down to the concrete deck and a new system installed. Our recommendations were agreed and we were instructed to provide a specification, assist with reviews of and reports on the tender and carry out project monitoring.
